ANNIE MACHALE, while a young woman in her teens, discovered the inkle loom and weaving which then became a lifelong passion. This type of loom makes narrow pieces, no more than 6” in width. Annie enjoys creating woven pieces that are both functional and beautiful. These include: belts, hatbands, straps for cameras, guitars and other instruments.
CATHLENA BURR will be offering hand-wovens to wear and for the home, including scarves, shawls, blankets, rugs, dish towels, etc. Cathlena will also be demonstrating weaving on a small floor loom.
ARIANNA FOORD will be offering naturally colored skeins of very soft Merino X wool yarn spun from sheep she raised in Oregon.
PAM LIPPER designs colors and dyes a variety of yarns for weaving and knitting. She has been weaving, spinning, and dyeing since 1977. Her handspun yarn is naturally dyed and appropriate for living history and re-enactment events. Her studio, Loom & Essence(tm) offers hand-woven fabric and garments, hand-dyed fibers and yarns, and handspun, natural-dyed yarn.
ANNE GORDON FRITZ has worked as a silk painter for two decades. Painting a variety of designs on several types of silk including charmeuse and heirloom Korean silks, she has created scarves, vests, jackets, shawls, wall hangings, and framed paintings for about two decades. She will be offering scarves, shawls, and framed paintings for sale.
MARCIA PETTY practices various fiber techniques - primarily shibori, silk painting, and deconstructed screen printing. She creates colored fiber for garments, wall hangings, wall art, etc. She will also be offering traditional textiles from her collection of world textiles.
Location and Space
We are exhibiting at the Designers Warehouse, a local resource for interior designers with a heavy emphasis on fiber as furniture covering, including other home decor items like painting and pottery. The space is accessible to all and there is ample parking. The Designer Warehouse is located at 8610 President Pl. NE. Take Alameda West from I-25, and turn left on President Pl., one block West of Washington St. Call 505-342-0402 if you get lost.
